I understand what you are saying now.  Thank you for explaining that to me.  Yes, so when we adjust the drive belt tension (for example), we have to make sure the left-hand-side and the right-hand-side match.  Are you telling me that a Polaris senior tech they brought down from Sydney to look at your bike didn’t check the rear end when performing the assessment?  With my limited knowledge of motorcycles, I would think wheel alignment would be the first thing to check.  Then if the tyres are out of round or wheels lost a weight and no longer balanced properly.  Last thing might be to check the headstock is not loose.  After that, I have no idea.  But if I know these things, wouldn’t a licensed mechanic know too?

Before I go any further with my assumptions, you didn’t hit your rear tyre on anything?  I am just trying to think of a logical explanation as to why the rear might be out by 12mm... aside from incompetence.

No, the bike has never hit anything and it has locks to ensure the wheel doesnt move from its settings.
Yes, Indian headoffice had it in their head it was the front end tire, nothing else, appears that even though I explained that the rear doesnt feel connected to the front they didnt take anything I said as facts, leaving it to be only the use of Avon instead of Dunflop.

Glad I persisted and I guess they have learnt a think about bikes as well

I don’t want to make this out to be more than what it is but I am genuinely concerned for folks taking their Indians to the Melbourne dealer for service now.

I am glad you are happy with your bike Poddy.

I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.  A bit like the guy who learned to defuse a bomb by watching youtube. 😬😝🤣

Speaking of youtube, if anyone was interested in checking their wheel alignment...
