"The annual Aldi motorcycle gear sale, normally held in the first couple of Saturdays of August, has been delayed this year until 31 August 2019.

Riders who want to snap up one of the many Aldi motorcycle bargains is advised to line up early for the store opening at 8.30am or they risk missing out.

However, we find that after the sale has passed and the gear has been removed from the shelves, riders can still buy some of the gear that has not been sold out.

You simply need to ask the manager if they have any left as it may be stored away. I once bought an $59.99 Aldi Bluetooth unit on behalf of a friend some months after the sale..."

I was only vaguely aware that ALDI had a motorcycle sale each year until I saw this post. Got in line early as suggested and was impressed with the quality of most of the clothing particularly the Midlayer Marino blend tops and full length compression socks.

I also bought a couple of balaclavas for those cold morning starts here in the South (the Director was particularly pleased with hers as she feels the cold). The balaclavas appear to be well made and fit well under the helmet.

In picking up the motorcycle jeans my impression was that they are lighter - not as sturdy / dense as other premium brands of motorcycle jeans such as Dragging Jeans. The gloves I thought were more suited to sports bike / off road riders rather than cruisers. The leather jackets and riding boots appeared to be good quality / weight with other riders there swearing by them.

Pleased with what I bought - thanks for the post Rusty.

We picked up a pair of boots for the daughter, the girls got some extra clothing for layering on the cold days plus extra socks never go astray.  Impressed with both the prices and quality. ðŸ˜

I bought a bargain pair of ALDI Leather Gloves at $15.00!  I still wear a pair I bought 10 years ago. They are bullet proof. Couldn't resist at this price!!!!

I went into 2 local Aldi stores this morning and they had heaps of leather jackets, lots of socks, and one store had heaps of the merino mid layers. I was looking at tank bags and got the small one that fits nicely on the Springfield tank and has an expander zip that gives more room. It covers the buttons for locking the bags and heated grips but the speedo is not blocked. The 3 magnet wings have pockets underneath to tuck into so they don't pick up crap when off the bike. The rear wing is in the pocket here.

Sorry for the revival, but has anybody purchased one of their leather jackets, and how do you rate it?

The jackets have improved over the years to be good value. I noticed that this year's jackets did not have a removable liner - or else they have different styles and the one I looked at didn't have the liner.

Their first year jackets were terrible. I went to buy one but they were made with cheap leather that had been urine tanned (yep, there are places where cow's urine is used) and they smelled very 'organic'. Weeks later in my local store the jacket rack looked untouched. I think they went for a better supplier after that.

I've not bought one but I've read comments from others where they say good things about them in recent years. If there are some left and you are thinking about it, it's worth getting one. Their return policy means you can easily take it back if it doesn't work for you.
Cheers, Kim.

Hi Shifty, I’m just having another look at your photo of the Aldi tank bag you posted - I need a just little more storage room when two of us are on the bike.
Just wondering if the bag sits firmly on the tank (doesn’t move around) and if there is any possibility of scuffing up the chrome / tank switches?

Thanks for the advice mate, really appreciate it 👌 Will see if I can track one of the newer ones down and if I can, I'll report back with the quality etc. I just figured for $180 (if it's any good) it's a nice bargain!

Here is the underside of the bag. You can see the pockets that the magnets go into. I leave the end one there all the time, and the others I slide in if I'm off the bike and there's a chance I'll pick up some scratchy stuff. The magnets are normally a round plastic disc with several smaller disc magnets set into it.

The vinyl fabric does not scratch and the magnets have done no damage to my black paint. I had the bag on the bike for a few thousand Ks touring from Newcastle and around Tassie recently with no worries about damage. And it doesn't move around at all.

My wife bought an Aldi leather Jacket after the Sale was finished about 4 years ago. She paid half price as it was the last one and they wanted to move it. She loves it and the quality. Doesn't go out on the bike without it. Never had a negative or a problem with it.

Thanks for the feedback mate; now to try and find one and/or wait for Aldi's next run of bike gear... I'm excited to see the quality of them in person!

Thanks for the additional info Shifty - all I need to do now is find a store that still has one! 👍
