Anyone replace their bars on here . I feel as though they need to come back and higher by an inch or two .
Any thoughts

I purchased new bars that go a little higher and further back than stock. Not perfect but better.

Exactly the same Chieftain or Roadmaster. I got the Indian 4 inch mid rise bars - only for the height, I can adjust my own reach by where/how I sit on my bike. Bars supplied and fitted were around $650. From memory so don't quote me.

Hi
Only new to the group

I've got a 2017  Roadmaster and just recently swapped out the handle bars to  a 6" rise Ape  Hanger Bar from KST Kustom, bought them off eBay for $ AU390  plus postage.
KST Kustom Apache Bagger Ape Hanger Handlebars 14-17 Indian Chieftain Roadmaster

Took  about 4-5 hrs to swap out, really like the way they sit and feel compared to the OEM set.

Cheers

Do you have a photo of how they look? I am short and was wondering if slightly higher would bring the grips back more towards me. I hade 12" apes on the HD and very comfortable on long rides. Did you need to extend cables or wires?

Thanks BigTone for that picture. I wonder besides raising the bars whether it brings them back towards  you much and if the cables need to be changed. I looked at my clutch cable and it already looks tight

I am wondering how much difference the bars made as it is quoted  "Not perfect". I am short  and currently reasonably happy, still the most comfortable cruiser I have ridden. bringing bars back and up slightly may help keep my back straighter ( old tradie back) will help on long runs when no lady on the back to lean against ha ha ha

It helped a little as the bars came up and swept back slightly. I think if they swept back a little more at the end my hand position could be better but the improvement would only be small. I got the bars as an Indian stock upgrade when I bought the bike in 2017. For me it was about sitting and hand position like you have suggested. At the end of the day you just need to find the best position for yourself and hope you can get a bar to match, its all personal preference. Good luck with your hunt.

The 6" rise Ape  Hanger Bar from KST Kustom were just the fit , I'm not that tall eirher , to  adjust the feel you will need to set the rake of the bars to suit.
No replacement of cables needed , however you will need to reroute the OEM cables a little behind the fairing (not a big deal)  Clutch cable  length no problem, again ONly need to adjust the route slightlt at the top of the forks behind  the fairing.

 Hope that helps

Thats good if it just means re-routing the cables, I only need a couple more inches ( thats what my wife says Ha ha) On long rides will enable me to move around a bit more.
