Fitted this Custom Dynamics brake light modulator today. Have them on my other bikes too. I reckon they’re worth the $75.

That’s pretty cool.  Do you have to cut wires to the brake lights and fit the modulator in between?

Nup. Just lift the seat and plug it in-line - 60 secs?

Hey Rob,

I just read the installation guide... the plug appears to be located under the seat, right next to where the rider’s backrest shaft slides in... do you have a rider’s backrest on your bike?  And you didn’t struggled to find some space for this flasher module?

Here is the installation guide for anyone else interested.

What's the ADR on brake lights? Are they allowed to flash?

Not sure. Ive been running both headlight and brake light modulators on my bikes for 10 years+ and only ever had an occasional question from police about the headlight modulator. So i carry this around in my pocket and show them - problem solved. Never bothered with the brake light but guess its in there somewhere as I've noticed a lot of new trucks with brake light modulators? I'll have a look when I get a chance.
Heres the headlight one. I reckon these work and wake drivers up.

and
(b) is designed to operate only in the daytime.

Good job captainrob.
I installed a modulator on my C109R some time ago and when I upgraded my ride to a C50T, I installed it on that bike.
This is a video of the C109R.

Here’s the headlight modulator on my Hayabusa for anyone who hasn’t seen one working?

How do you switch that function ON and OFF?  Like riding in the night...

Modulator on/off with high/low beam switch. Light sensor turns it off in low light (night) conditions.

I've thought of putting a headlight modulator on my bikes for years but never got it done. My bicycle headlight is a very bright LED unit that switches between high/low and flashing. I've thought about mounting it on top of my headlight on the Indian instead of fitting a modulator.

However, it is prohibited to install a separate flashing light of any kind or any colour on a bike in NSW. A headlight modulator is OK, but a separate white flashing unit on top of the headlight is not OK.

So you ride round with a flashing headlight? That's just going to piss people off.

Yep, you're right.
I really hope it does piss people off - especially those that don't see you and clean you up.
"Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You!", might work for you, but doesn't work for me any more?
(Usually the cars with the 'family' of stick figures on the back window, so I've figured out? - I watch them very carefully now).

Well just an FYI... In Australia, flashing your headlights within 200m of an oncoming vehicle is considered dangerous as it dazzles the approaching driver and attracts a low-level fine. That said, a cop can use discretion and not issue a fine.

That's when flashing your high beam light. A low beam modulator does not use the high beam light.

FYI Take the time and read what it says above in Schedule 3 (a). If you're not happy about it take it up with Road Safety Regulations?

BTW. Whether you like them or not, they're mandatory in some parts of Europe, and several states in US.
And if they have been included in our Vehicle Standards (1999) then its highly probable that they will be introduced here in Oz one day, I'd guess?
