Hello all,

I am looking for some advice from any one here (hopefully someone from Polaris). I purchased a brand new Indian Chieftain DH from a dealer within Oz and requested multiple upgrades (Cams, Air, Exhaust etc).
I work overseas and since purchasing the bike I moved to another state.  When I went to my new states shop for a re flash they noticed that the wrong pipes had been fitted to my bike (chief pipes not chieftain). The pipes are missing brackets that support the panniers and keep them from 'hanging' on the two pins.
Emails to my original dealer go unanswered.
Besides threatening any sort of legal action at this point, is there any way I can address this through Polaris and if so does nay one have a contact?

Try a phone call instead of emails. Can work wonders. Which dealer? Can perhaps get someone on here to talk to them for you if you're overseas. It's not unreasonable that the dealer's mistake should be rectified. You don't need legal action, just consumer affairs. They made a mistake. They should fix the mistake.

(I'm happy to help if it's Melbourne related)

Hi Jamie,

I just want to clarify something.  So you bought an Indian Stage 1 Pipes for your Chieftain in Australia through your former dealer and they fitted Chief pipes (no hard case support brackets) by mistake?  You have contacted your old dealer by email but no replies?

If it was me, I would take a copy of your Indian Stage 1 receipt into your new (local) dealer and explain the situation and see if they can get you a new set of Chieftain pipes?

Do tell us who your old dealer was and who your new dealer is please.  Some dealers are Polaris owned, others are not.  Some are better than others too.

PS. Polaris do read our forum and sometimes take action but I wouldn't count on that to happen quickly or every time.

Your states Fair Trading dept which help administer issues like this when good purchased are not as described and dealers wont respond etc will also help if Polaris dont resolve (free service with fair trading) which is a recommended step prior to any civil tribunal

BTW have you rung them if you cant get email, and if so keep your phones logs, they help with fair trading discussions

To all that have responded, many thanks for your advice.

I am not sure what has happened (maybe this post has been viewed by the dealer) but I have received an email from the original dealer outlining how they intend to rectify the problem.

If by chance a mystery Polaris employee has seen this and intervened, thank you

cheers to all

Great to hear it has been resolved.  I figured it would resolve as it was a clear error on their part.

Someone from Indian HQ is definitely reading these posts (but never comments) as few other people have had their issues resolved soon after posting here too.

I just got a calll on my cell phone from Polaris USA HQ... they said you did get your bike for half price as promised.  Only thing is they charged you AUD$15,000 for Indian leather jacket.  😜
