I took the ultra limited for a test ride.  Significant half said if I bought it she would not ride pillion, besides the damn thing damn near shook me nuts loose.  The ride was not smooth or impressive.  I felt like I was riding on the top of it, not as a part of it.

I was so looking forward to the Harley as well, I was extremely disappointed.
My other half then suggested that I go and have a look at the victory store.  So I did and they put me on a cross country for a weekend.  It was ok but there were a couple of deal breakers for me (considering the cost) - probably the biggest one was that the cruise control fluctuated by about 5kms either way of the set speed which meant that one minute your doing 95kms and the next you are doing 105kms.  Mr plod does not look too favourably on this and if you are using the cruise control to stop them from pinging you then this is a slight problem.

Based on this, Scotty suggested I try a roadmaster.
The ride was the smoothest that I had experienced in a long while.
it met all of my criteria of having cruise control (that worked properly), sound system, heated grips, glove boxes, solid, convertible, rock solid on the road.
It came with some extras like electric windshield, 3 power supplies, heated seats (which won the boss over) and was good looking to boot.

Was it a leap of faith - sure.

If anyone asks why I didn't go with a Harley, my answer would have to be, overpriced to pay for the name, badly balanced (in my opinion) and an uncomfortable ride.

Just goes to show that everyone is different and has different requirements in a bike.

I would have brought the Road Master but it wasn't out yet and I couldn't wait the 3 months so the Chieftain it is.

I've owned a couple of Ultra Classics including a CVO model.

The RM runs rings round them all in every aspect.

The LED Screen is hard to read in some light conditions, and every now and then there is a random buzz that comes from something not quite loose, not quite tight  in the Fairing but overall I love it, and its capability to cover vast distances very swiftly.
