It won't effect tuning. There are two computers, the VCM and ECM. One does vehicle stuff like dash, headlights and blinkers etc. The other does Engine management.

However, some riders in the US found that the dealer flashed both when only one was needed so it's better to speak with the service guy before they do it.

Hi, thanks going to the dealers tomorrow
now we can go out.

Hi all. Yesterday I received some information regarding issues from the recent gear position recall

Edited
Hi today, we received an email that there is ANOTHER Software update to fix issues owners are experiencing with the recall you all just had for the Gear display switch. At this point it only effects 18-19 models. To fix this issue it requireS another’s software update from Indian.
please contact your nearest Indian dealer.

Hi Damich does it state anything further about what occurs?  We had our recall done a couple of weeks ago and whilst riding the other night, I lost all gear indication on the RM and error 523 came up.  The RM is going back in on Monday to have this rectified.  Thanks

Pacman I hope this helps to answer your question and by reading it, I think it does.

Thanks for the additional information Damich.  My display shows the usual 1N23456, but they just stay grayed out, nothing lights up to show what gear you are in.  Not getting the two dashes like the bulletin says.  Will certainly discuss this with the dealer though, thanks.

The style of gear position switch is used on other makes of bikes, and the issues we are experiencing appears to be a common thing.

Interesting result today, nothing wrong with the new gear indicator switch, but for some reason the RM lost the software update from when the switch was fitted.  They just did the software update again today and all working fine.  The boss's Chieftain DH recall was done at the same time as mine and she has had no issues.  Will see how it goes.  Again kudos to the girls n guys at West Coast Polaris in Mandurah, first class customer service thanks!

Just shows how it goes with electrics.  I still love the older bikes because you could do a lot of the maintenance
work yourself.  Lucas (God of Darkness) was a hassle with Brit bikes but, usually, one could get by with the correct spanners & tools.
Now, I've got 3 bikes & not one of them can I really play with unless I have a computer & the appropriate program!
Sigh, getting old (but also, the bikes are WAY more dependable nowadays), watched the film about Bert Munroe again
yesterday (Anthony Hopkins did ok, but woeful KIWI accent) and it made me laugh.  He still holds a record worldwide and he
used to make his own pistons (and everything else) !!

Hahahah, I have stuff turn up on the Vintage viewscreen every now & then and resort to my computer expertise by utilising the "turn it off, turn it on again" principal.  It seems to work so far (until I get a service, at least).

👌😎👍

The tv show, The IT Crowd did the biking world a great favour! 🙂

With the older bike you could hit them with a hammer, and if that didn’t work you used a bigger hammer, now you power cycle them🤔

Ha! yes, it used to go like this:

The bigger the doubt, the bigger the clout!"
