Hi guys  I am Geoff, thanks for the expectance to the forum. I from Newcastle NSW I have owned so many bikes since the early age of 15 now 64 yrs . My last 3 bikes were as follows 2013 Victory Cross Roads Classic  that I had customised including the paint and loved. 2016 I traded that for BMW R1200RT loved that also and then 2017 I traded that for a BMW K1600GTL which was a fantastic bike also. Back in November 18 I had my GTLin for its service and had the opportunity of taking one of the 2018 Road master fora ride while my BMW was being serviced and could not get off it ,I wanted to keep riding and loved the bike so much ,I could not get it out of my mind. So about a month ago I ended up searching for a great deal on the 2018 Run out Road Master. At first I almost bought a White one ,the same as the test ride demo. But I also loved the Metallic Burgundy which I think looks great with the tan seat. Well I got a great deal that included stage one exhaust, 6 shooter tips, Hi-Flow air filter and a heel shifter. The bike turned up at the dealership on Friday 18th then the parts manager managed to get the boy in the workshop to fit my exhaust, filter and heel shifter this morning after a cancellation for a service. I went to the dealership this afternoon and was lucky enough to being able to have a look at it and so happy I purchased the colour ,it looks fantastic. All that remain to be done now is the P.D.test ride and rego before I can take delivery mid next week.I am so looking forward to getting on this and riding my bum off. Have ordered a brake/taillight for the trunk as we done get them as standard in Australia after the 2017 was released. I have also ordered a PVCX so I can have a dyno tune up loaded into my ECU once the bike is in for its first service. that should help with smoothing out any flat spots and cooling the rear cylinder.

Welcome aboard bud. Question, why are you going the PVCX , rather the the Power Command ?

Welcome GC3.  Sounds like you have done a lot of research before your purchase.  I’m also a fan of heel shifter as well.  Enjoy your ride!

If I may share my thoughts on this topic.

Power Commander V (PCV) is a piggy back system.  It is wired to the factory Indian/Bosch ECU and modifies the Indian tune (eg. Add 6% more fuel at 3,500rpm at 50% throttle).  If the factory tune is revised by Indian in the future, your PCV tune will need re-tuning (eg. it may now be 4% more fuel, instead of 6%).  Also, there are many more parameters PVCX can control over PCV.  PVCX reprograms the Indian/Bosch ECU directly (no piggy back unit or wiring required).  PVCX is the latest and the greatest way to tune our Indians.  Dynojet continues to figure out what all the numbers mean inside the ‘hacked’ Indian ECU so over time, we might be able to adjust everything.  At the moment, we can modify 70% - 80% (I’m guessing just for this discussion).

The most important point I can share, from my personal experience, is to avoid generic tunes and so called ‘tunes for certain modifications’ for PVCX (including from FuelMoto).  I have seen a few bikes with ‘off-the-shelf- tunes that were way off during their base run before getting their custom dyno tune (it could damage the engine in the long run).  If Polaris factory tune is off the mark for EPA and something goes wrong, our engines are covered.  If the PVCX tune (no matter who’s tune) causes engine damage, no warranty.

My strongest recommendation is to get the custom dyno tune, specifically for your bike, by a quality workshop in Australia, if anyone is fitting the PVCX (or even the old PCV).

Less popular option is to stick with the factory tune.  Indian will continue to revise their tune over time (within confines of EPA regulations), as they have done with Stage 2 tune (S2C tune was shocking when they came out but these days, they are better sorted).

Just my $0.20. 😀
Let's be kind to one another.

Welcome GC3.  Hope you enjoy that bike!  I agree with V-Twin, heel shifters are good for the bigger bikes.
I'm Not Completely Useless . .
I Can Be Used As A Bad Example!

Power commander is a plug and play unit as you mentioned  and has too may things that need to be connected to make it work EG: Piggy back so need to have the injector plug removed then plus the power commander plug on the piggy back the one injector plug to that again so with the newer version aka as the power vision out is a simple flash unit and still has the capability too set a auto tune without buying the seperate unit as with the power commander v . In other words the PV is a flash tune so you get to keep your one tune and the new Dyno tune . works out that less connecting parts to go wrong.I may have miss lead you by saying a lvcx when I was meant to say the unit I have ordered is a Power Vision with the ability of a custom Dyno tune that is flashed into the one ecu.  plus thanks too you and all that have welcomed me too the forum.

Hello Geoff and welcome to the forum.
Thanks so much Nice to see more Australian on this forum than the BMW one. Plus this seems to be more active, I have gained some ideas and looking forward to helping anyone if ever I can in return. I love the idea of a forum where we all have a common love and share some knowledge to help others too.
