Okay, so I have a problem.  I own too many motorcycle jackets but the worst part is, I want more!  It might be like the 👜 and 👠 for ladies?  I've got 2 x black leather jackets (one from nearly 3 decades ago), Indian Racer leather jacket, Dainese leather, Dainese waterproof touring jacket, Triumph leather and Triumph summer fabric jacket.  So all up 7... at the moment.

I think my collection of riding gloves are heading that way too.

Strangely, I only own one Indian t-shirt. 🤔

The black leather one I have always had and a new Indian retro jacket I got as Birthday present.

I guess if you count my full length Diza-bone I wear when it is wet that makes 3. And a full length leather great coat I acquired and recently discovered was a good riding coat (on the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride) then perhaps 4 but I only count the 2.

I have one that was bought for me when I was 21 (leather with tassles).
I have one that I bought when I returned to riding (leather).
I have a nylon / Kevlar one that I had worn to death and had to retire.
I have a new nylon / Kevlar one that I have just purchased.
I have an indian vest
And I gave one away last month to a friend that didn't have a jacket (not sure if that counts but it was new and has only recently departed my company [biggrin] )

The trench coat is really heavy. It is also quite old so the leather is really thick.

  • one is new school with armour on the important bits - comfortable;
  • and one is just because 🤣[confused]

One at a time for me!

I originally tried this on in the shop after making the deal on the Chieftain thinking "yeah down the track I should get a new jacket" but then it fit like a glove, is sooooooo soft and light. It basically just screamed "I'm made for you!". I ended up getting it thrown in, the final deal sweetener!

It's a snug fit (XL) but leather relaxes and at the moment, I need to shed some kgs too!

Technically I do also have another leather jacket. A 15 year old Rivet. It weighs a lot though and isn't anywhere near as comfy as the Indian. I also have a DryRider that's about the same age which was stored for so long the padding went completely out of shape so it's all but read to be thrown out.

In terms of winter/wet weather I plan on adding layers underneath and a spray jacket over the top, probably hi-vis. I have black spray pants for my legs. I just need a really good set of comfy waterproof boots.

I have not found a waterproof spray that can keep leather jacket dry in heavy rain.  I carry thin over pants and over jacket that I put on and they do the trick for me.

I have:
- some old textile jacket I keep on hand for an ill-equipped pillion
- a very faded textile 1 Tonne jacket - inner waterproof lining is not so much - so only good for a hot summer ride with the lining out
- an Indian Benjamin - leather jacket - which I wear for riding in summer and as a casual jacket when not on the bike
- and Indian Tour Jacket - awesome winter jacket - wore it at -6 degrees C with the high collar tucked into my helmet I was as warm as.  Also incredibly waterproof.

Heavy winter leather
Light spring/fall leather
Medium weight windbreaker jacket
Blue Jean jacket.

I had many more leather jackets but they (a) wore out over the years (b) got smaller [rolleyes] , were pilfered by my kids, or simply walked away somewhere.

I've got a leather one that started life as Victory but has an Indian patch on the back.
There's a DriRider summer mesh jacket.
And a Belstaff waxed cotton jacket from a generation ago, pants to match.
My usual summer jacket for around town is a light canvas bike jacket, armour in elbows etc
And I've a cooler vest as well, the kind that you soak in water. It's not much good unless it gets clear air, ie. mesh jacket and no windshield.

That's 4 1/2.
Cheers, Kim.
