It has been a long 3 weeks waiting to get my new Road Master since I ordered and paid for it. It arrived at the dealership on Friday afternoon ,the guys in the workshop had cancellation so they fitted the Exhaust, 6 Shooter Tips, Hi-Flow Air filter & Heel Shifter that day. It should be ready Thursday for delivery so just 2 sleeps away and like a kid at Christmas I have been so restless ,not sleeping as I should in anticipation for the new baby to be at its new home. It may sound silly but I have a great bike that I have made the choice to trade in with nothing wrong with it, the GTL is only a 2017 model and love riding it but!! I made the mistake of test riding the Road Master back n November and have tossed and turned over if I should or should not by one. Once I made my mind up and weighed up the pros and cons of both bikes the Indian won. Funny I had a 2016 R1200RT then bought the 2017 k1600 GTL  so from 280kg on the RT, then going uptown 350kg with the GTL, I am now increasing the weight again this time around 420kg . I only weigh 74 kg, so the bike is 4 of me lol weight wise anyway but the balance and Ride Command plus the comfort of this bike won me over. Yes it may not be as fast ,handle as well as the BMW`s but it still is a great bike and will be my last one as it is my semi-retirement present to my self. I look forward to enjoying it, have long rides and forgetting about the daily grind of the rest of the world around me. IMG_0130.jpg

That machine, my friend, is stunning.
I do wonder if you had the same reaction when you were purchasing the other bikes.
I have had other bikes and the changeover has been pretty much a ho hum moment - but this one is waited on with anticipation.
When taking photos watch out for reflection from the chrome bits 😃

Well, if the Roadmaster is your semi-retirement present, it seems fitting that there should another bike in your future - a full retirement present! 😆

Congratulations!  Enjoy the anticipation and the first and many rides after that as well.

Hey Crash,
To be honest I have never been as excited about a bike since I bought my Victory Cross Roads back in 2013 and still kicking myself for selling it after all the mods., I did too it. I loved the BMW`s but this R.M. is such a wonderful bike  I am  very excited about getting this tomorrow in fact I will be onto the dealership if they don't cal me by 11 am saying it is registered and ready to go after they have taken over a week to assemble it do the P.D and the extras were put on last Saturday morning .,ride wise the R.M. is more comfy than the BMW`s the stereo is fantastic and you can hear it where the BMW was shitty and then I won't mention all the things the Rid Command does over and above the BMW with the stupid way you have to put the Garmin Sat Nav into the bike. The BMWs were and are a lot quicker and would out handle the R.M but I love the looks of the bike and if it is half the bike the Victory was ,I am going to love the longer rides. Plus I won't have to buy a mirror too comb my hair with all the chrome  lol

Are you still waiting? I thought today was the day, and this morning I rode past Brisans on my pushy and took a long look to see if I could see the red rocket sitting there. I hope they get it done for tomorrow.
Cheers, Kim.

At least you still have hair to talk about 😃
Problem is, when you pick it up you still won't be able to sleep for thinking about the ride the day after,
what other mods can I make?
does my phone hook up to the infotainment system?
how many km's out of a tank of petrol?
when's the next service?  how quickly can I get it there?
See, so much stuff to keep you awake at nights - don't be expecting a good sleep for quite some time.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to sleep when you have a big cheesy grin on your face (all the freakin' time)...…. 😃

Crash thanks you have made me go out and bulk buy loads of sleeping tablets now lol I know what you are saying in fact I was about to upload a Manual to see how many ltrs. the tank holds and try and work that out roughly I find YouTube is my best friend when it comes to getting info and have already found some thing I want to look for and do if needed too like getting the Trunk speakers gap lined up to be closer than the factory gap, Put the trunk tail light on the bike once we work out all the correct parts to fit is before ordering it from the USA so it is all in place to fit, plus just plug and play. then the running in to get the first service done so I can install my Power Vision and have that Dyno tuned . I think I might end up looking like the joker from Batman movies once I get that grin you mentioned lol. As for mods I think I have covered just about all of them I want to do with the purchase .

Good choice  gc3, I love my 2017 Roadmaster but don’t get the chance to ride it much. I know you won’t be able to wipe that smile off for a long time yet bro.

Thanks Deano27970 . I would have been the same if I was still working but 5 days from Christmas 2018 I thought I don't need the stress and bull from my employer ,since the Liberals were so nice and privatised the local bus service it has not been a great experience for employees within 18 mths 65% of new drivers says a lot. Anyway I throw the job in and not putting up with their or the governments crap and will have more time to ride my new bike and enjoy life as we should do if we can.

Hi gc3, can you give me a little more information on the clear 3m paint protection, who installed it, is it a product supplied by the dealer?  I am picking up my new RM in 8 - 10 weeks, so if worthwhile i can get it installed prior to delivery. Finally being 12months down the track how is the protection holding up?

Enjoy the wind in your face and the open road before you

Gorgeous bike, I love the color. I also had a clear protective film on my bike to help with rock chips because the material under the white paint is black. It was not supplied by the dealer but they allowed the guy to come in and install the film. The guy that installed it on my bike did not do the best job as some spots are starting to pull up. But overall I would do it again it really does help prevent rock chips. If you dent it with your fingernail it will heal and restore to its previous condition.

And congrats on almost retiring!

This thread has been dormant for 12 months and GC3 is no longer on the forum. He's a nice guy and I've ridden with him up here in Newcastle.

Here's the funny story. The 2017 RM he posted here got a few upgrades, AC, pipes etc but then he decatted it. The noise was way too loud for him. To check it he got an app on his phone which told him it was idling at 115 dB. He checked prices to have a new catted header installed but the price was exorbitant. So he traded the 2017 model for a 2019 model exactly the same colour and spec as the 17. Then a few months later (probably Sept/Oct 2019) he'd decided he wanted something different so he traded the 2019 RM on a brand new BMW1200RT - yep, the same bike he starts the story with.

His progression in 18 months was 2016 BMW 1200 => 2017 BMW 1600 => 2017 RM => 2019 RM => 2019 BMW 1200.

Thanks for reviving the thread, it's reminded me I should get in touch to see what he's riding these days. 🙂
Cheers, Kim.

😳😬 In 18 months, he traded that many times???  Wow!!  Please thank him for keeping the motorcycle sales in Australia alive.  😆

OK, how's this for an update?
I got in touch with Geoff to see how he's going as I've not yet seen the new BMW1200. Today the story is that the bike was causing problems with his back so he's traded it on a new BMW1600 which now has reverse gear. They've got a 'stop sale' thing happening and he's expecting the new bike to be delivered in a few weeks.

That makes it the 6th new bike in about 18 months. 😮
Cheers, Kim.

Holy crap!!

That is one very decisive, yet strangely indecisive, series of purchases and sales.

I don’t think I have ever heard of that sort of process to find what you want before...

I sincerely hope that he has now found a keeper.

I passed on our group thanks for his efforts to keep the new bike sales industry going.

And I'll catch up with him over coffee to get all the details of his plans for new bike purchases in the next 18 months. 🙂
