G'day,

just saw this pic [image] in the US forum that looks like they offered 5 year warranty with bikes sold in the US at some stage.  Did this ever happen here ?
Did anybody get 5 years free with their Indian ?

Cheers

G'day 1854,

The answer is yes and no. In the States, 5 years warranty is Indian Factory Warranty. Unfortunately in Australia, after the first 2 years, you have to pay a 3rd Party Extended Insurance. It is through a company called' Australian Warranty Network' (AWN). See this page for their detail: http://www.indianmotorcycleforum.com.au/post/indian-motorcycle-roadside-assist-8119940

They also provide Roadside Assist for for Indians but one of the forum member was saying that they only have flat top trucks for cars and their operators (call centre) staff are confused about the level of coverage. But back to the discussion about 5 year warranty.

When I bought my bike, I paid for my 5 years extended warranty BUT in my experience (and that of fair few members here), Polaris rejects many warranty claims first and if you kick up the fuss, they may cover you to shut you up... in another words, it is a battle every time you make a warranty claim (all very discretionary). If I knew what I know now, I would not have paid for AWN 5 Years Warranty. Because the coverage is called 'Extension of Mechanical' and how it works is, AWN will pay IF Polaris would have authorised the repair of the bike if it was within the first 2 years... so the claim comes down to Polaris. Of course it is possible that since Polaris is not footing the bill, they might authorise repairs more readily. [smile]

As for your question, was it ever free? Yes. During the runout sale, Indian did include AWN extended warranty with their bikes on occasion.

Thanks V-Twin,
looks like we are getting sre....you know what again here in Oz, what else is new.   Good advice on not bothering with the AWN.

And for you crash here is the pick again pre-focused since you have trouble with that. [smile] By the way if you like that you should head over to the other forum.  They even kiss in other pics.

That lady in the purple is out of place [confused]

The 5 year warranty is also in place in Holland I got no idea why we had to mis out on the other hand the quality of my Indian Vintage gave me enough confidence not to take out the extended warranty ( that extended warranty is way to complicated and the level of warranty was to me not worth it)
As far as I know by law here in Australia you are protected when something really bad happens within reason of KM and how old the product is
