Recently I noticed that not all my Albums on the thumb-drive I use on my RM are not being read.

I had about 4 hours worth of downloaded stuff on the drive plus 24 Albums.

All the downloaded stuff was being read, but not all the albums.

So to experiment I remove the downloaded stuff leaving the 24 albums.

Still only reads about 6 albums.

Has anyone else experienced this.

I don't use my Bluetooth for music as the RC doesn't read the phones music menuwhile connected in that way.

Hey Kappy,

I don't have the Ride Command but... I assume '6 albums' refers to 6 folders?  So you have a USB Thumbdrive with the following content?

My album 1
My album 2
My album 3
etc.,

Does it seem to make any difference if the name of folders are (a) short, (b) joined together with no spaces, (c) no symbols and might be worth checking the song file name length too?

(a) So instead of folders named like, 'My Favourite Artist Full Name - Full Album Name That Is Long', does it make any difference if they were short folder names?

(b) Also, instead of 'Artist Album Name', does it make any difference if it was renamed to 'artist-album-name' or even 'ArtistAlbumName' (no spaces)?

(c) Could also try naming folders using alphanumeric characters only (a to z and 0 to 9).  No spaces, no symbols like ,!'"$&@-/:;() etc.,

(d) Some systems cannot handle long folder + file names.  It might be worth checking to make sure songs are not named too long (> 100 characters).

If none of these made any difference... just have to wait for other Ride Command users to chip in.

apparently this is not a problem, split it up into 45 USB sticks and when you want to play a particular track, stop the bike, locate the USB stick, take the other one out and replace it with the selected one, start up the bike and then enjoy your selection - or get an ipod but that probably won't work either [biggrin]

I have my ride command using a USB stick (because the IPOD doesn't work) and I have had the recent patch.  What I am finding is that there is now a playlist and when that playlist finishes it just stops.  I have not been able to figure out how this works but I will pay more attention to it when I get a chance.

Hi All,

Just an update on my situation.

Spoke to dealer in hope of some guidance, so I revisited my music origins only to discover a lot of my music have some how become MP4's.

Have no Idea how that occurred and now is irrelevant.

So having converted all the music back to MP3's and loaded onto my thumb-drive I'm pleased to announce my RM now reads all 5 gig of music.

So I feel when see the dealer next, I will extend an apology for my errant comments.

Let the volume begin.
