My avatar tells the story! Four weeks ago my Yamaha FJR 1300 caught fire as I was riding along the Princes Highway, Pakenham. When arse got hot I realised there was a problem (!) and dropped it in a roadside lay by where it exploded and started a fire in the grass and rubbish.
Insurance paid up, and I went and bought my Indian Chief Vintage!
My name is Rob, and I’m a ship captain - semi-retired at the moment!

My ‘new’ Chief is 2015, but only has 1500 kms.
Re-done the leather, made it solo, Springfield tank badges, mirrors, deflectors, grab rail.
its a great bike. Love it!
took me a little while to make the transition from sports bikes. Still have a Hayabusa though.

😳😳😳 That is one heck of an amazing introduction!  Welcome to our forum.  Glad you were alright mate.

And your daughter races?  Good stuff.  A group of us rode up to Alice couple of years ago with Mossy and attended the opening of the Finke desert race.  It was pretty cool.

Welcome to the forum. I also rode an FJR 1300 before my Indian. Both are great bikes but loving my Roadmaster. Hope to see you on a ride.

Welcome Captainrob
Nut sure how much you are transitioning from the sport bikes considering you still have a Boosa in your shed 😁
But variety is always good. Enjoy the new ride.

Hi Captainrob,

Here is a belated welcome, sorry for your loss of the FJR1300 (a mighty fine machine0 but it got your arse on an Indian so there is a bright side to your shitty fire, but even without the Indian, your safe, well and alive.

Ride safe, ride proud and sing the praises of your Indian motorcycle....most of all enjoy the forum family..... they are a great bunk of guys as was proved to me today by private message
Cheers......Steve

Welcome CaptainRob.  Had a battery blow up under me once, not fun.  At least you have a few more toys to console yourself with!  Like what you did there with the Chief's seat.  Anyhoo, stay safe & shiny side up mate.

Hm, Years ago had my harley transported to Alice Springs, not sure what happened, but when I picked it up & went to ride home the bloody battery blew up!
That happened to be under my seat (as most bike batteries are) & 1. it scared the heck out of me... 2. scattered a lot of battery acid over my bike ( and me, well inner thighs & such)... 3. re-affirmed my faith in all things electrical on motorbikes aka bugger all!
Bright side... jeans didn't look too bad later... seat was ok... battery was toast but cheap enough to replace.
(oh, it made a lot of people look & my somewhat cool reaction was noted... little did they know, I already had a kid!)

Anyhoo, forget that, we are welcoming El Capitano, not trading stories...  Again, welcome Captain Rob! ðŸ˜Š
