Hey Dan,

Welcome to our forum.  Scout vs Bobber... hmmm... they are both nice but my pick between the two would be Bobber.  A bit more urban.  However, if you prefer slightly more traditional style, maybe Scout?  Are you planning to tour with them or just ride around town?

G'day V-Twin, be mainly just me on it as a daily to work ride with maybe the odd short trip with the wife on the back, it's the passenger that gives me doubts about the lesser suspension on the bobber and also the smaller main seat (I want comfort) I like both bikes but leaning towards the looks of the bobber, suppose I could always chop the scout ha ha.

Either way, I’m sure you will enjoy riding them.

G'day Dan
I was up your way the last couple of days. It is always nice to escape the Perth Winter and get up to Darwin.
I think the Bobber is lowered so might have less suspension which could be an issue for Pillion. The Pillion seat is different between Scout and Scout Bobber as well. At a glance I would say that the Bobber is really intended to be a solo bike. That doesn't mean it won't work 2 up and the options are there to do it.
The only way to be sure is to test ride then with your wife. Rule of thumb for me is that if the wife likes it then there are more opportunities to take the bike out.

Hi Dan, Welcome to the forum.  Awesome to have you along.  Decisions indeed - tough one.  Bobber looks pretty good, Scout better for pillion, Roadmaster perfect 😃

G'day Dan, when you get the bike give me a shout for a ride. We should try and organise all Darwin Indian riders for a weekend run to the 303 bar at Adelaide River for lunch and a brew.

Welcome mate.
I reckon if you can't make up your mind between a Bobber and a Scout - go for a Springfield!!
He he

Good luck with the choice - no regrets either way I am sure.

Yeah I went and had a ride and liked it a lot, I don't think I  can wait to have a look at a bobber now and am leaning pretty hard towards this one mainly because of being a bit better for a pillion and the little bit more ground clearance, I can always customise this one a bit (something I just cant help doing with most things I own). Probably be back to see him on Monday I reckon.😃

G'day Dan, welcome to the forum.  Scouts are awesome.  I got mine off Rick in Darwin about a 1 1/2 years ago.  Love it.  Mind you, I'm only average build & find it a bit hard on long distances (eg NT roads out of Alice) & ended up putting the stock seat back on.  I never really thought of the scout as a "two up" bike, but I have been used to longer rides (hence the Chief/Harley).  Still, if you are only bopping around town or going a coupla 100Kms or so, they would be alright.  Either way mate, enjoy the bike!

Congrats Dan!  What pushed you to Scout over Bobber in the end?

Welcome Dan and congrats on your purchase. You may want to look at some different shocks if you ride two up much (even on the standard scout). Something like the Fox shocks or Darkscout suspension. It will only add to the better handling and comfort ride with a pillion.

Either way they are a great bike the Scouts. Have fun and don't for get to put up pics of the mods when you get to them.
Will and Katie.

2018 Bobber. Thunder Black Smoke. Fox shocks, reduce reach bars and Emgo slash cut slip on pipes.

Soon to come: PVCX and maybe a zippers intake.

Probably impatience more than anything actually, couldn't wait for the bobber to come in ha ha. But also it was a good price plus it has the pillion seat as standard, the little bit more ground clearance and even though I like the blacked out bobber I think a bit of shine and bling got me a bit as well.
cheers Dan

Hi Dan , I just got the bobber and I love it but its a hard decision mate . I rode both but because of my life commitments im only able to ride on weekends mostly so the bobber being less is more suits me perfect but the Scout is more comfortable for longer rides . that being said with a few upgrades the bobber with fox shocks and corbin seat will also soak up the K's pretty fast . enjoy and be safe

G'day Dags, yeah I'm happy with the scout, have been riding it every day to and from work (35km each way) and have clocked up just over 1100km so comfort is a plus to me, I backed the rear springs off as far as they would go for a bit softer ride and have fitted a throttle lock to rest my numb hands when needed so it is getting even more comfortable, looking at a Dart flyscreen to just break the wind a bit more at speed and I reckon it will be even better, loving it ðŸ‘ Next will be a better pillion seat for the missus to give her bum a bit more comfort.
