Tubehead
I am 59 and have been riding and on the tools since I was 11.Anybody from NZ my age will know being able to work on your own bike was 100% a requirement of staying mobile in those days due to lack of money and the worn out old British clangers everyone bar the rich were riding!
I have never owned a cruiser and have 5 bikes in my garage all bar one under 200kg so this is a new era for me.
On the test ride list.
Moto guzzi 1400 elderado
Triumph rocket 3
Harley Davidson road king.
Indian Chief classic.
I test rode everything except the chief so far.
I walked into the Indian dealer on friday and It was love at first sight.I don't even need to test ride it although that is on offer.
I heard one running outside the shop with stage 1 pipes and it blew me away how mechanically quite the motor is.....I love that so there is only one issue for me and why I am here on an Australian site.
Clacking !So I will put a post in the appropriate forum to get feedback from ANZAC owners on the only issue I have before buying my chief.

Hi Tubehead

Welcome to the forum,
I am on Chief number 2 (the Dark Horse flavour). I suspect that clacking is somewhat in the ear of the beholder. I have already killed my hearing through too many loud concerts and too many years of straight pipes with open faced helmets and no ear plugs (I wear them now so better late than never). Anyway, the point is that my bike(s) may or may not have clacked and clearly from the forums there are some examples that are noticeably louder than others.
The worst thing I did was get caught up in listening for clacking and worrying my bike was one of them which took away a bit of the enjoyment of riding.
As far as I am aware the clacking sound has never been implicated in an engine failure and so far the TS111 seem to be bullet proof clack or no.
Get one, you won't be disappointed.

If you are thinking of fitting Stage 2 Cams (S2C), try finding one with them already fitted as some bike started clacking as soon as S2C were fitted (like mine).  Apparently, it can be reversed by fitting the standard cams but that might be a pain.  Good luck with your find.

I'm guessing he's a guitar player.

Nothing very exciting it refers to a stage when I was obsessed with tube frame Buells in particular this one which had a 1340 kit and some head work which made it pretty mental to ride! P6170015.jpg

No sold it but kept the heads, cams, pistons and barrels so the earlier S1 model is on the project radar at some stage.Right now I would like to find the Chief I am looking for.Perfect would be a solid black one with 25-30000 ks on it and no clacking.
