Hey All,
How can you tell if your starter motor is going on your bike? I’ve noticed my bike is starting to take longer to turn over. Especially if it doesn’t get ridden every day. I’m aware there was a recall on the scouts at one stage so am very conscious of it at the moment.

Try the battery first. That can cause similar symptoms even if the battery registers good voltage. It might be drawing down quickly under load.

What year is your bike? I think it was the first 2 or 3 years that had the starter problem.

Speak with your dealer, they might still be replacing older starter motors.
Cheers, Kim.

Had same problem on 2016 Scout
Thought it was battery, changed that but started happening again. Was starter and was changed under warranty. Go to dealer

Had mine replaced at Brisbane dealer last week. As far as I know warranty on starter motors has been extended to 5 years.
