I was working on this to release during the event. The NZ company have still decided to go ahead as a momento and collectors item.. buy 2 bottles and John Munro will sign the second.

Press Release – Spirit of Munro
8/04/2020
To celebrate and support the Indian Motorcycle community’s ambitious plans for setting a new Rally World Record, we are delighted once again to be partnering with the family of Burt Munro in launching the 2nd release of “The Spirit of Munro”.

“The whisky, for now, will be bitter-sweet compensation for the deferred event, so we can drown our sorrows at its COVID19-forced delay” explains the driving force, media personality Chris Keeble. “The New Zealand Whisky Collection partnered with the Munro family and Indian Motorcycles, very successfully to mark the 50th Anniversary of Burt Munro’s 1968 Land-speed record, so we are thrilled to have them on board to keep momentum building for our event, to bring over 800 Indian Motorcycles from right around Australia and New Zealand, to Silverton in Western New South Wales”

General Manager of The NZ Whisky Co. Grant Finn continued “This is a deliciously sweet 21-year-old bottling at 43% ABV, which we’ve selected to let the honey, vanilla and caramel notes shine through the whisky. We’re thankful that John Munro, the son of Burt and a pioneering engineer and motorbike personality in his own right, has offered to sign the 2nd bottle for those many whisky and Indian Motorcycle collectors, who we learned from the 1st release, like to order 1 bottle to enjoy and another to sit in their collection of memorabilia”

That looks good. Did they give you a final Australian price with import duty and alcohol excise etc added in?
Cheers, Kim.

That sounds lower than my rough guess from the excise and duty.

Original price + 5% import duty + whiskey excise ($86.90 per litre) + shipping cost + insurance. Add them up and add 10% GST.

NZD and AUD are about equal at the moment. It's a nuisance that they don't put shipping costs up without having to order one and find out at the checkout.

I like the idea but I've yet to go over $100 for a bottle of whiskey. So far I'm practicing financial distancing. 🙂
Cheers, Kim.
